I have been connected with the Elisabeth Curtis Centre throughout my life, first as a child through my mum’s involvement with the Centre. My mum is still involved today, which makes my connection with the charity feel even more personal. As a child, I helped with fundraising and volunteering, and I also exercised the RDA ponies, being one of the few people small enough to ride them.

As a teenager, I continued volunteering while developing my own passion for horses. I had a horse during my teenage years and now have a horse of my own, giving me a strong understanding of the confidence, responsibility and connection that horses can bring.

As an adult, I have remained actively involved with the Centre in a variety of ways. Before moving into accountancy, I worked as a teacher, which gave me valuable experience in education, communication and supporting people to develop confidence and independence. These skills remain important to me and are highly relevant to the work of the Centre.

Through my accountancy practice, LEO Bookkeeping Services Ltd, I later became involved in supporting the Centre with payroll, bookkeeping and accounts. This gave me a deeper understanding of the charity’s work, its operations and the importance of strong financial management in supporting its future.

I joined the Board of Trustees in 2025 and bring with me professional experience in education, accountancy, finance and business management. I am keen to use these skills to support the Centre’s governance, financial oversight and long-term sustainability.

The Centre remains very close to my heart, and my daughter is now also involved as a volunteer. Having supported the Centre as a child, teenager and adult, I am proud to continue contributing to its success and the positive impact it has on riders, volunteers, families and the wider community.
