About Us

Welcome to the Elisabeth Curtis Centre

The Elisabeth Curtis Centre is a member group of the Riding for the Disabled Association, incorporating Carriage Driving. We provide our participants therapy, fitness, skill development and the opportunity to achieve through the use of horses and ponies.

Who We Are

We are a purpose built riding centre on the outskirts of Bromham, which caters solely for disabled participants.

Our Mission

To promote the objectives of RDA UK within the Bedfordshire County, particularly focused on Bedford Borough.

What We Do

Provide riding and non-riding sessions to participants.

Our History

The Elisabeth Curtis Centre was officially opened on 19th April 1983 by HRH The Princess Royal, President of the Riding fothe Disabled Association (RDA)

The Centre was named after Mrs Elisabeth Curtis who, as Chairman of the Eastern Region RDA, had been closely involved with the development of riding at Bromham Hospital. It was hoped that the Riding Centre would be a fitting memorial to all her work for the RDA.

However, the story started several years before that, in August 1975. Check out our history timeline page to see the story.
