About us
The Elisabeth Curtis Centre is a purpose-built Riding for the Disabled centre in Bromham, Bedfordshire, supporting children and adults through the therapeutic benefits of horses and ponies.
As a member group of the Riding for the Disabled Association, incorporating Carriage Driving, we provide a welcoming and supportive environment where participants can build confidence, develop new skills, improve physical fitness and independence, and form lasting connections.
Our history
The Elisabeth Curtis Centre was officially opened on 19th April 1983 by HRH The Princess Royal, President of the Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA).
The Centre was named after Mrs Elisabeth Curtis who, as Chairman of the Eastern Region RDA, had been closely involved with the development of riding at Bromham Hospital. It was hoped that the Riding Centre would be a fitting memorial to all her work for the RDA. However, the story started several years before that, in August 1975.
