I officially joined the Elisabeth Curtis Centre as Morning Groom in 2019, during RDA's 50th anniversary year, although my connection with the Centre stretches back much further.

Before joining ECC, I spent 21 years working at a local special needs school, where I held a variety of roles including bus driver, lifeguard and staff trainer. During this time, I developed particular expertise in supporting individuals with autism and complex behavioural needs.

Over the years, I brought many students to the Elisabeth Curtis Centre and had the privilege of seeing first-hand the positive impact that riding and equine-assisted activities can have. Watching the Centre grow and seeing the smiles, confidence and achievements of participants reinforced just how special the organisation is.

My history with ECC began long before I became a member of staff. I volunteered at the Centre during the 1980s and later returned as a Saturday volunteer in around 2008 before eventually joining the team as Morning Groom.

Horses have always been a huge part of my life. I grew up with horses and ponies at home and enjoyed taking part in showjumping and gymkhanas. From a young age, I worked on racing yards and later spent time in Spain working on a stud farm.

I feel incredibly fortunate to be working in an environment I love, alongside a wonderful team of people and some very special four-legged superstars.
