I started volunteering at the centre in 2010, after reading an article in the local newspaper.
I was working full-time but my working pattern allowed me to help in the week, so I became a Tuesday volunteer.
Now retired, I worked for Bedford Borough Council for over 30 years for Bedfordshire Libraries. I gained much experience helping people, both young and old and especially enjoyed working with special needs clients.
I had little knowledge of horses, but our volunteers work well as a team and I have learnt so much.
I joined the Fundraising Group in 2011, then in 2013 became a Trustee.
There is always lots to do, but seeing the smiles and happy faces that riding or spending time with our horses brings, makes it so worthwhile.
I am also a member of a local wildlife group, a keen Nordic walker, enjoy gardening, singing and handicrafts.
