Volunteer Helpers
Volunteer helpers are always in short supply. Many of our sessions do require three helpers to each rider/pony combination. If you are “horsey” perhaps you would like to help groom, tack up and lead a pony. If you are not perhaps you would like to help the riders with their hats, the walk to the mounting block or to accompany them on foot while they ride outside.

Riding Lists
Unfortunately The Elisabeth Curtis Centre has been a victim of its own success. Our waiting list is heavily over-subscribed. As a result we have decided to close the waiting list until September 2011 to try to clear some of the backlog. Our sincere apologies to any new riders wanting to get on the list. Please do get in touch in September 2011.
Riding Times
- Monday morning, three groups of young adults.
- Tuesday morning two groups of children and two sets of adult riders.
- Tuesday evening three mixed groups of quite advanced riders.
- Wednesday Morning – new session – details to be provided.
- Wednesday afternoon – mixed adults and children.
- Thursday morning two groups of children and a group of young adults.
- Saturday morning a mixed group, including more advanced riders on the final ride.
Raising the Money
The cost of running the Centre increased in to £37,000, in the year to March 2008, mainly due to a heartless break-in, September 2007. Thankfully, the increased cost was offset by many kind donations from those who heard of the theft
We are a registered charity with no outside funding. There are two part-time grooms to see to the ponies in the early mornings and evenings. Everyone else is a volunteer.
There are many ways you could help to support us.
- A donation.
- A subscription to our Supporters Club.
- Sponsorship of a pony for a year, or more.
- Gift Aid.
- Joining the weather lottery (see right)
For details of any of these please contact the centre.
